Group chat without a phone number
You can chat with a group without handing out phone numbers. On tempchat.cool, someone makes a room and shares a link; everyone else opens it, picks a nickname and joins. There is no account, no sign-up and no app, and the chat is end-to-end encrypted.
Why skip the phone number
- You may not want a stranger, a seller or a new colleague to have your number.
- Phone numbers are tied to your real identity and are hard to change.
- Many chat apps need a number just to sign up.
How it works here
- 01
Open or make a room
Make a room in one tap, or open a link someone sent you.
- 02
Pick any nickname
We suggest a random one like Blue Otter. Nicknames are not verified, so people only know who you are if you tell them.
- 03
Chat
Messages are encrypted in your browser and the room deletes itself when time is up.
What this does not do
Not needing a phone number is not the same as being untraceable. Your internet connection still shows an IP address to the services that carry it. We do not log or store IP addresses, but we cannot promise anonymity. See how we handle your data in our privacy policy.
